Current Projects
A new and exciting opportunity for us and our community partners is making sure all our neighbors have supplemental food whenever they need it. To accomplish this goal, we have joined the ER Food Coalition to build the Little Free Food Library (LFFL). When it opens fully, the LFFL will be a 24/7 option for households to pick up free food. The shed is located at the new location of the Elk Rapids Library. Starting in the fall of 2025, we will also be Hoophouse Gardening for Elk Rapids Schools. There are houses at three of their buildings for us to grow local food for students and the community. We are always looking for volunteers to help with both of these causes with a variety of roles needed.
Check out this awesome article from the Elk Rapids News about the LFFL and follow the ER Food Coalition on Facebook!
We sponsor monthly game night for the residents at Noble Pines in Elk Rapids. We are always looking for prize donations such as individual serve foods, toilet paper, pre-made treats, and more!
We have a great relationship with Patriot Place in Gaylord. Whenever their residents are in need, we'll sound the call looking for housewares, food, and other donations.
We regularly watch the DonorsChoose website to find local teachers in need of materials for innovative projects. When we find requests, we not only share them widely, but donate to the cause!
We'd like to build our own Little Free Library and are looking for someone to sponsor or complete the construction for us. Could that be the way you do a little good?
We have established Lunch Funds at both Elk Rapids Schools and Bellaire Public Schools to make sure that no students go hungry or incur debt in order to eat. Ask how you can contribute!
We help stock numerous student pantries of food and/or clothing in several Antrim County school buildings. We also provide coats, boots, and snowpants as needed for local elementary schools.
During the holiday season, Do a Little Good partners with area organizations to help bring some cheer and good-tidings to those who need it most. What are we working on this year?
1) Christmas Greetings at Patriot Place - every year we put together gift bags and celebration essentials for the residents
2) Holiday Gifts for Homeless Teens - working with Bellaire Public Schools and Elk Rapids Schools, we help provide presents for students

Annual Projects
Our Not-Knitting events have been a success! We are happy to have donated many hats and scarves to Jubilee House in Traverse City and Munson Medical Center NICU. We continue to plan these gatherings to benefit new organizations like Elk Rapids Schools.
Each year, we award one High School Senior Scholarship winner with $250 toward their needs after graduation.
Additionally, we offer an Adult Scholarship for area residents who work, live, or went to school in Antrim County to put $250 toward another degree, a certification, continuing education credits, and so much more!
We collect Community Cash slips every year for this Village Market sponsored program. Each giving season, we designate a purpose for the funds, including:
Scholarship Fund
Elk Rapids Food Coalition
Patriot Place in Gaylord
Childcare Fund
Lunch Fund at Elk Rapids Schools
Every year, we support students in Headstart by providing needed winter gear like boots, coats, hats, and mittens. Each fall season we collect new items from the community and fundraise to purchase additional pieces. All the gathered apparel is then donated to local programs.
Complete Projects
Spearheaded by one of our founding members and partnering with Short's Pull Barn to have a great night of BINGO fun, we raised almost $4,500 to purchase a beach wheelchair and sand mobility mats. These accessibility aids were donated to the Village of Elk Rapids so the whole community can use them. You'll find them available for check out seasonally at Veterans' Memorial Park.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Painting with a Purpose events. All proceeds and donated paintings benefited Patriot Place in Gaylord.
We worked with the Bellaire Public Schools and the Tiny Traveling Boutique to arrange a formal event apparel swap. We hope to make it an annual event! Have Homecoming-appropriate clothes to donate? Let us know!
A huge thanks to K & K Heating and Cooling and the B2 Outlet in Traverse City for making us their charity of the month during 2023. We appreciate both these organizations and their donations to our group.
We partnered with Uncle Rod's, Inc. to co-sponsor the Wheels and Keels Machine Show in 2023 & 2024. At this free event, we sold food, shirts, and raffle tickets to raise nearly $2,000 for our programs.
